Area of an Isosceles Triangle

Area of an Isosceles Triangle A triangle is a geometric shape bounded by 3 sides. An isosceles triangle is a triangle which has the lengths of any two sides of the triangle equal to each other. Since the two side lengths are equal, hence the opposite angles of the equal sides are also equal to each other. Area of an isosceles triangle is the region covered inside the triangle by all its 3 sides. Example 1: Calculate the area of the isosceles triangle if the length of a side is 6m and the length of the perpendicular drawn to the given side is 3m. Given the length of a side = base length, b = 6m The perpendicular drawn to a side from a vertex is the height of the triangle. Given the height of the triangle, h = 3m Area of the isosceles triangle, A = 1/2 * (base length) * (height) Area, A = 1/2 * (6m) * (3m) = 9m2 Area of the isosceles triangle, A = 9m2 Example 2: Calculate the area of the isosceles triangle if the length of the base is 7.5m and height of the triangle is 5.5m. Given the length of a side = base length, b = 7.5m The perpendicular drawn to a side from a vertex is the height of the triangle. Given the height of the triangle, h = 5.5m Area of the isosceles triangle, A = 1/2 * (base length) * (height) Area, A = 1/2 * (7.5m) * (5.5m) = 20.625m2 Area of the isosceles triangle, A = 20.625m2
